There was a time when I didn't travel because I had too much to do. Then, I experimented with delaying responsibilities to prioritize myself, and I created a life worth living. Work and chores can wait; I have places to see and people to meet.
Experiencing the Grand Canyon National Park was a bucket list item for me. In February 2020, we decided to do a weekend in Las Vegas and take a helicopter from there to the Grand Canyon. It was a quick trip, only two and a half days, but we had a blast.
We stayed at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas and this was the night view from our room:
We arrived on Friday, walked along the strip, ate at Hell's Kitchen, and then checked out the casino.
Since neither of us are big gamblers, we spent the following day on a tour with Shoot Las Vegas. We were taken by van to a location right outside of the city.
There, we were able to shoot automatic and semi automatic weapons. The outdoor range was set up right on the side of a large hill. The variety of weapons to choose from was very impressive and we had an absolute blast shooting them.
The following day, we took a helicopter to the Grand Canyon:
The helicopter brought us initially down to the banks of the Colorado River where we then took a boat ride within the Grand Canyon:
Then we were brought up to the top of the Canyon to see the breathtaking views:
Seeing Las Vegas, and Grand Canyon National Park from a helicopter, was by far my favorite part of this trip. Both can easily be seen in a weekend and it is an interesting combination of destinations. If I was going to the Grand Canyon again, I think I will do it the same way; stay in Vegas and take a helicopter to the canyon.
